There was always a chance the 2020 campaign would be Justin Turner's last with the Los Angeles Dodgers, but the veteran infielder doesn't like to consider the fact that his tenure may have effectively ended already.
With no plans for a season in place yet and his free agency on the horizon, Turner knows he may have played his final game in Dodger blue last year.
"It's definitely something that I've thought about a few times and don't want," Turner told Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times. "Obviously there's a possibility that there's no season and my Dodger career could've ended last year in the playoffs, which would be tough. It would be sad. Sad to think about."
Turner, who's from California, has played with the Dodgers for the last six seasons. He remains productive and is one of the team's most popular players, but the 35-year-old says he hasn't engaged in contract talks with the team's front office.
Major League Baseball is reportedly sending a return-to-play proposal to the players' union within a week.
If the season doesn't resume and Turner departs, however, he'd leave as one of the Dodgers' most productive players in recent memory, having authored a .302/.381/.506 slash line with 112 home runs and 383 RBIs.
